Clad in a green kurta, Canadian PM performs Aarti at a Temple in Toronto

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is known for his strong commitment to multiculturalism and he is often seen wishing various religious communities on their festivals. Recently he visited a Hindu temple in Toronto and performed Aarti there.

Trudeau wore a green kurta and a white pyjama to the Swaminarayan Mandir. He was accompanied by the spiritual guru of the temple. He also asked the temple Mahant to keep Canada in their prayers.

The event was a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the temple and it was attended by 7500 devotees. Trudeau started his speech with Jai Swaminarayan’ and ‘Kemcho’. The mayor of Toronto and governor of the province of Ontario were also present with him. The temple was inaugurated in 2007 by Trudeau’s predecessor Stephen Harper.

Trudeau said“The relationship between our two countries is truly a special one. It’s a relationship our government and our ministers both deeply value and actively cultivate.”

Trudeau stressed for stronger Indo-Canadian relations and said that the temple is one of the architectural wonders of Canada as it is built without steel and has intricate wooden carvings. He also said that the 10th anniversary of the temple coincides with the 150th year of Confederation.
