Landing is one of the most crucial times of any flight. But it becomes even more crucial during deadly crosswinds at the airstrip. Only a highly skilled and experienced pilot can land an airplane as big as Airbus A380 in such conditions. Passengers traveling from Dubai to Germany in an Emirates Airbus A380 were left petrified in one of the toughest landings of the world’s largest airplane.
Pilots had to battle violent crosswinds at the runway to land the plane safely. Plane spotter Martin Bogdan, who has filmed more than thousand crosswind landings termed the landing as ‘extremely hard’ and ‘ extraordinary’.
In his YouTube video description he has termed the landing as: “At first it looked like a pretty normal crosswind approach but after touchdown, the pilots tried to align with the runway which looked pretty incredible. I have never seen such a tremendous reaction of an airplane after a touchdown. You can see that the pilots tried to align with the runway by using the tail rudder and luckily it worked out.”
Bogdan also praised the pilots wholeheartedly “This video shows the incredible skills of the pilots. Even after an unexpected wind gust after touchdown, they managed to re-align with the runway. Incredible job by the pilots !!”
