30 security dogs from Israel have been taken by India in order to tighten the security for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A security official said in a statement that because of a heightened threat perception, they wanted to beef up the Prime Minister’s security.
The dogs are part of the Israeli defence forces’ ace canine unit. These canines include Labradors, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois dogs and a fourth ‘rare breed’ are very effective in combat and other operations.Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jerusalem last month, the ties between the two countries have become stronger. Israel stands as India’s top defence equipment suppliers. The total bilateral trade between the two democracies stands at $4.52 billion.
In past one year, around 30 attack dogs, bomb sniffers chasers were imported from Jerusalem in the past one year. Reportedly, these attack dogs, bomb sniffers and chasers who were recruited in SPG are considered the best in the world in sniffing out explosives.
