It is not that inflammatory and venomous communal statements coming from Hindutva firebrand politicians or activists are anything but surprising. They often outdo themselves in the divisiveness, vitriol and hatred.
This time a Sadhvi in Goa said that all those who eat beef in India should be hanged at a public place. She said cow is the mother and those who eat the flesh of mother as a status symbol have no right to live in India.
Sadhvi Saraswati said at the four-day All India Hindu Convention, that she requests the government to hang those eat beef publicly. The Sadhvi also added that the biggest danger to Hindus is from seculars and the impending task before us is not to convert non-Hindu to Hindu, but Hindu to Hindu. Sadhvi drew thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd for her extremely hateful and violent comments and particularly when she said that the so-called seculars will be attacked first.
She also said in an ominous tone that if we do not stockpile weapons, we will be destroyed in the future.
The Hindutva conclave which discussed how India could be a Hindu nation by 2023 was organised by Hindu Janjagriti Samiti, which is a part of Sanatan Sanstha. Members of Sanatan Sanstha are accused of murdering rationalist and anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar in Pune in 2013.
It is reported that representatives from BJP and RSS did not attend the event.
